If your home was built before 2010 chances are you have a kitchen desk. The desk would be a little area in the kitchen that would be fitted with a desk and a range of shelves and drawers. Though some people boast and rave about their kitchen desk, not many people actually utilise the desk for its purpose. Instead, they use it to pile items they don’t have anywhere to store and make it look very much like an eyesore. This makes people question whether having a desk in your kitchen is an outdated thing to do.
The majority of homeowners agree that a kitchen desk makes their home look dated and that they barely use the desk for any practical. Rather than utilising the desk to work which is its purpose they used it to store items they didn’t know where else to put which made the corner look very cluttered and unappealing.
So the answer to the question of whether kitchen desks are outdated is yes. Modern kitchens are minimal with clean straight lines and corners and a kitchen desk is nowhere to be found. Desks are now placed in the at-home offices where they actually serve their purpose and don’t just become a dumping ground for miscellaneous items.
