If you are on about if a double bed would fit in the space a queen bed would go, then the answer would be yes. But if it were to be the other way around a queen bed would not be able to fit in the space of a double bed frame if you prepared a space for one before because you had a double bed in the same space originally a queen bed frame would not fit at all.
If you want to replace a double bed frame for a queen bed frame you would not be able to fit it in the space for a double bed frame and you would need to make a couple of inches of space for the new queen bed frame. A double frame on the other hand would fit in the space for a queen bed frame.
If you are on about mattresses, a double mattress will fit in a queen bed frame. But if it was the other way around a queen mattress would not be usable in a double bed frame. This is due to the queen mattress being too big for a double bed frame.
However, I would not recommend using a double mattress for a queen bed frame. This will affect the quality of sleep since the double mattress would not fit flush inside of a queen bed frame as the double mattress would be able to move about whilst you sleep because the queen bed frame is a couple of inches larger than a double bed frame.
