How To Wash Your Quilt

How To Wash Your Quilt

There are some things that you should check before putting your quilt in the wash machine to wash, one of these things is to check whether the colour or dye washes off or runs just to make sure that you don’t ruin the quilt and anything else that you might wash the quilt with. You can check this by getting a white cloth that is wet and gently rubbing the white cloth on the quilt, if colour transfers to the white cloth the dye in the quilt will run and come off when you wash it in the washing machine if it doesn’t then it is unlikely that colour will wash off when you wash the quilt.

When washing your quilt put the washing machine on a gentle, delicate cycle and then set the temperature to cold. Wash the quilt in a dye free and perfume free detergent, if you have a larger more bulkier quilt then it is recommended that you wash the quilt in a large load capacity washing machine.

Lastly, when the quilt is done being washed in a washing machine, dry it gently. The best way to dry your quilt is by air drying it however, if it is an everyday quilt then it could probably just put it in the dryer after you let it partially let it air dry first to speed up the process. Although, if you could try air drying it as you want to treat a quilt like delicate piece of clothing and tumble drying may cause the dyes to bleed or to fade and it may also ruin the quilt as well, depending on its material.
