Can I take a mattress to my local tip?

Yes, you can take your mattress to your local tip. Just make sure that when you take your mattress to your local tip that you have notified them ahead of time along with the item or items you are bringing to the local tip.

Can you take a mattress to the tip UK?

Your local tip in the UK may not take your mattress. This is because they may not take bulky or large items like mattresses. Another reason is that in the UK getting rid of a mattress is a separate service all together. Even at recycling centres some do not take items such as mattresses.  You will have to go to your local council or a separate company to have your mattress taken. One such company that does this is called Skoup.

Can you cut up a mattress?

You can cut up your mattress. However, it will leave a big mess if you do cut up the mattress it is best that you do the job outside in your garden or at the front of your house where you can easily dispose of the result of a mattress that has been cut up. To help you do the process faster get a person to help you cut the mattress and aid in the cleaning process for the aftermath. Plus, put something underneath like a sheet of cloth or heavy tarps to make collecting the cut-up pieces of mattress quicker, this is mainly for spring, foam, cotton and memory foam mattresses. 

Can you put a mattress in a skip?

No, you are not allowed to put your old mattress into a skip. But you are allowed to donate your mattress if you do not want to pay for fees to your local council or another company to get rid of the mattress for you.
