Sleeping Without A Pillow.

Sleeping Without A Pillow.

Sometimes when you sleep and wake up to back and neck pains you tend to blame your mattress for this problem when sometimes it's your pillow that is causing this pain and discomfort. There are some potential benefits to sleeping without a pillow, although these do usually depend on your sleeping positions there still may be some pros that you can benefit from. Some people really do enjoy the minimalism that comes with sleeping without a pillow,

  • Sleeping without a pillow can potentially improve wrinkles. As we all know compressing your face against a pillow for 7+ hours a night may lead to the formation of wrinkles, therefore with that information it would mean that sleeping without a pillow would decrease the process of you getting wrinkles from your pillow. Although, there isn't enough research to prove or disprove this, there may be a chance that this is actually true.

  • Sleeping without a pillow may help with no frizzing because, there is no friction created between your hair and the pillowcase, so by eliminating the prime source that causes the frizzing of your hair then it would mean that your hair would be less frizzy. However, like mentioned before, there is no concreate evidence to prove that sleeping without a pillow will eliminate the fizziness in your hair however, there is a chance that it will. If you do still want to sleep with a pillow and you want to minimise the frizz in your hair that is caused by your pillowcase, there may be investing in a good quality silk pillowcase may prove to be beneficial to you.

  • If you are a stomach sleeper then you know that sleeping with a firm pillow can be quite comfortable for you and it may cause you to have neck pains as it forces your neck to arch at an uncomfortable angle thus causing the neck pains. If you are a stomach sleeper and you can’t seem to find a pillow that doesn’t give you neck pains than maybe trying to sleep without a pillow may be helpful to test out whether you will benefit from sleeping without a pillow as for stomach sleepers that may reduce neck pains as there no longer is a pillow causing an uncomfortable arch in your neck throughout the night.

  • Stomach sleepers tend to have a lot problems because, of their sleeping positions such as back pain, neck pain and upper back pain. So, sleeping without a pillow if you are a stomach sleeper may help to align their spine, when taking pillows out of the equation there is no longer something that is pushing your pelvis into the mattress. Therefore, meaning that there is less of your lower back sinking into the mattress, which means that your spine is better aligned than it would have been had you been sleeping on a pillow that is too firm for a stomach sleeper.

Although the research to prove that these benefits are actually real or are as beneficial as you may think there still isn't must data to back these findings as research on this topic is very limited. Also, do take the things listed above lightly and do not look at them as medical advice as this piece was purely written for information purposes not as medical advice.
