Getting regular physical exercise is a good way to improve your quality of sleep and if you work out your core often and strengthen it and work on the muscles in your abdomen, lower back, hips, and pelvis this can then help ease back pain. If you build your strength and flexibility in these areas, then you are less likely to hurt your back.
