What Is A Twin Bed?

What is a twin bed?

A twin bed is just a single bed that is called by a different name, the terms twin bed and single bed are interchangeable and both mean the exact same thing. “Single bed” used to be the more popular term used for this size of bed, but today “twin bed” has become a lot more popular. The term twin bed came about because of hotels that started to place two single beds in one hotel room. There are some twin beds that are designed and created to be bought together as a pair but that is not the case with all twin beds. The size of both the twin and single beds is exactly the same.

What are the dimensions of a twin bed?

The dimensions of a twin bed are 35 inches in width by 75 inches in length but in some cases, the width of the twin bed can also be 36 inches. The dimensions of the twin bed make it the smallest bed on the market and certainly show that it is designed for only one sleeper.

You can also purchase twin XL beds too, the dimensions for this bed are 38/39 inches in width by 80 inches in length. The dimensions of this bed provide an additional 5 inches in length compared to the standard twin size bed making it perfect for anyone over 6 feet tall this is because the standard twin bed can be quite cramped for anyone over 6 feet tall.

Who should purchase a twin bed?

The twin bed can be purchased by anyone, adult or child. However, the twin bed can feel cramped for some adults and if that is the case then you can purchase a double bed which is the perfect in-between mattress, between the twin and the queen size bed. Twin beds are ideal for young children who need a transitional mattress that fits perfectly in between their toddler bed and then potentially their double bed they may purchase in their teenage years.
