What To Do If Your Mattress Is Hurting Your Back

What to do if your mattress is hurting your back

There’s no worse feeling than waking up with a bad back, especially when it’s your own mattress causing the distress. No worse way to start the day, but it’s alright we have a couple ways to help you out to prevent any more bad starts to the day.

A mattress too firm can cause increased pressure on your joints, particularly your back which may be the source of your morning aches, however on the flipside a mattress too soft can have the adverse effect, too-little pressure can cause it’s own issues, such as your spine falling out of alignment which in turn causes its own aches.

If this is the case, it’s advised to replace your mattress with one more fitting for yourself however there are ways to make a firm mattress more hospitable.

  • Pull it out and walk over it for 30-50 minutes, doing so will soften the mattress up just enough to offer the proper support your body needs.
  • Leaving a mattress without any bedding or casing for 2-5 hours, giving it an overall better oxygen flow

A way to enhance the sleeping experience if you’re unable to purchase a new mattress is, if you sleep on your side, try placing a pillow between your knees. If you sleep on your back, place a pillow behind the backs of your knees. And if you sleep on your stomach, try placing a pillow under your hips and lower abdomen and another thin pillow under your head.
