After a few years your mattress will start to give out it starts to sink in certain places, it loses the support and comfortability that it once had, however, you are unsure of whether you need a new mattress or if you just need to get a mattress topper.

There are some things to consider when thinking about whether you should buy a mattress or a mattress topper, because of the big price difference between a mattress and mattress topper, it might be better to buy a mattress topper before committing to buying a new mattress.

When to get a mattress topper?

If your mattress isn’t what you would like it to be anymore, instead of buying a new mattress a mattress topper may make more sense to buy since you get still get used out of your mattress without spending a lot of money since the mattress toppers are fairly cheap.

Somethings to consider before committing to the idea of buying a mattress topper:

• Can I afford a new mattress?

Mattresses are quite expensive, so if you want a new mattress but it isn’t in your budget for right now then you can get a mattress topper that will still allow you to get a good night’s sleep until you are able to get a new mattress.

• Is it too firm?

If your mattress is too firm and you don’t like a mattress that is too firm, but you want the support of that mattress then you can get a soft mattress topper preferably a 3–4-inch mattress topper to customize the softness of the bed to your taste without compromising on the support that your mattress has to offer you.

• Is my mattress too soft?

If your current mattress is too soft and it feels as though it is sinking and sagging when you sleep on it then a mattress topper is ideal for you as it brings back some stability and support that your mattress no longer has. Also, if you just brought a new mattress and that mattress isn’t what you would ideally want it to be like for example, if it is too firm then you can get a thick mattress topper to make it softer.
