Why Do Bed Bugs Only Bite Me?

Why Do Bed Bugs Only Bite Me?

Bed bugs aren’t typically picky with who they bite,  so despite there being no overt signs or reactions it’s very likely they’re feeding off of everyone else within your household.

Certain people are more sensitive than others to bed bug bites, thus reactions to said bites vary greatly from person to person. A lessened reaction might not be as noticeable whereas a more extreme reaction would see the skin form reddish, itchy bumps. This is caused by the nervous system perceiving the bed bug saliva as a threat.

There are other reasons you may be the main target for bed bugs, whilst specific blood-types don’t hold any interest for bed-bugs (or any other blood-feeding insects), blood types like ‘O’ tend to generate higher body temperatures, and that’s what attracts bed bugs. In combination with exerting more heat than the average person, bed bugs are also attracted to the carbon dioxide you exhale as you sleep.
