Are polycotton sheets good?

Poly cotton is a synthetic fabric made by blending cotton and polyester for a certain ratio. The foremost common combinations of cotton and polyester are 65% cotton 35% polyester, 60% cotton 40% polyester.

80% cotton 20% polyester and 50% cotton 50% polyester. The benefits and drawbacks of polycotton sheets are given below.

Advantages of Polycotton sheets

The advantages of Poly Cotton are presented below.

Less liable to Piling and Static

Common complaints of polyester consumers include pilling small bubble formation on fabric, a defect caused by wear and a bent to make up a static charge, but unlike polyester, polycotton is a smaller amount liable to pilling and static.

Strength

Pure cotton is soft but it’s not known for its strength. Polycotton sheets could be a very durable fabric and it's used mostly thanks to their strength which mainly comes from the great amount of polyester present in them.

Recently a study from the EU textile services association shows that workers who wear poly-cotton at work require 25% fewer clothes than those that wear 100% cotton.

Can Be Washed Often

Since polycotton sheets may be a strong and sturdy fabric that's why they may be washed more often than both cotton and polyester. That's why it's widely employed in clothing.

More Breathable Than Polyester

Poly cotton is more breathable and cosy than polyester.

Wrinkle Free

Polycotton sheets may be a wrinkle-free fabric and it doesn’t need much ironing.

Affordable

Poly cotton isn't as expensive as pure cotton. It's affordable and long-lasting with the softness of cotton and therefore the durability of polyester.

Dries Quickly

According to one study by the EU Textile Services Association (ETSA), laundries drying poly-cotton consume 50% less electricity than drying 100% cotton because it dries quickly, this also makes it environment friendly.

Softer Than Polyester

Poly Cotton is way softer and cosy than polyester, this characteristic comes from cotton.

Disadvantages of Polycotton sheets

The disadvantages of Polycotton sheets are stated below.

Skin Allergy

Poly cotton fabric with a high amount of polyester is affordable but it can cause skin allergies since polyester may be a synthetic fibre made by chemicals.

Attracts Dust

Polycotton sheets attract dust and other debris and wish to be washed more.

Expensive Than Polyester

Polycotton sheets are cheaper than pure cotton but it is more expensive than polyester because of cotton and other resources required in the production of a blend of cotton and polyester.

Not For Outdoor

Poly cotton is good for indoors If you are in the office or at home but poly cotton is not that good for outdoor activities Especially in hotter environments, since it's not as breathable as cotton.

Not Resistant To Fire

Polycotton sheets are not good fire resistant and are unable to evaporate body heat. Temperatures can damage the fabric real fast as poly cotton melts at high temperatures.

Overall, yes polycotton is a great material, although, it depends on your preferences, so we do suggest reading this article and also, doing your own research from other competitors and websites too.
