Can Bed Bugs Bite Through Your Clothes?

Can Bed Bugs Bite Through Your Clothes?

Luckily enough, bite bugs can’t bite through clothing or fabric. However they have a nasty habit of going for exposed areas, like feet or hands and feeding there or moving further up to the leg or arms in order to feed.

The smell of sweat and carbon dioxide that you radiate as you sleep attracts bed bugs to your body. This is the reason that bed bugs rarely stray further than a few feet from their host whilst hiding. If not hiding within your bed itself, they may linger in nearby furniture, carpets, or gaps in electrical outlets. Though they favor beds to be closer to their hosts.

If you’ve spent the night somewhere frequented by bed bugs and you think you might’ve brought them home, then the solution is simple. Wash the clothes worn in warm water and be sure to not store them in your wardrobe or drawers, instead place them straight into a washing machine.
