Can memory foam pillows be washed?

You can wash a memory foam pillow but not in the way you think, you cannot just place it in the washing machine as that can cause the material to weaken and damage your pillow, making it less effective.

The steps to clean a memory foam pillow:

1. Fill the bath with warm water, add a small amount of detergent,
2. Submerge the pillow in the water and squeeze the water out, continue to do this and repeat until you feel as though your pillow is clean,
3. Gently squeeze out any excess water but try not to twist the pillow as you may change the shape of the foam as the foam is weak at this point due to the hot water.
4. Leave to air dry outdoors or in direct sunlight

Can I put it in the washing machine?

You cannot put memory foam pillows in a washing machine, the motion of the machine spinning can cause the memory foam to rip apart causing damage to the pillow. This happening can decrease the life span of your pillow and weaken the material. So putting a memory foam pillow in the washer isn’t a good idea

What temperature should I wash it at?

You should wash your memory foam pillow at room temperature water or Luke warm water, this way you will prevent yourself from changing the shape of the memory foam and it will still feel the same when you sleep on the pillow.

Can I use detergent?

at times you should use a gentle detergent, this can prevent breakouts or allergies from acting up. Try to use detergents that are for babies or sensitive skin, this makes a huge difference in the way your pillow feels.

Can I put it in the dryer?

Although at times you may feel lazy and not want to wait for your memory foam pillow to air dry, you might be tempted to put it in the dryer, however, this is a bad idea as dryers tend to get really hot and the heat will affect the memory foam pillow and change the shape of the material. It will damage the pillow and waste your money as memory foam pillows can be expensive.

How often should I wash them?

There isn’t a recommended time period of how often you should wash your memory foam pillow; you should refrain from washing it often as doing so can damage the pillow and cause a short life span. By doing this you will be forced to purchase a new memory foam pillow causing you to spend a lot more money as we all know memory foam pillows aren’t cheap.
