5 Detailed Ways to Take Care of Your Favourite Mattress

We all know the importance of good sleep and we all trying constantly to achieve it through a good mattress. So you bought it recently or you are looking for it for a very cheap price but then after few months, it's already ruined.

Here are 5 comfy ways to avoid this:

  1. Clean your mattress often and do it with this easy technique

Your mattress is a place you lie once or more a day, it obviously collects dirt. This includes sweat, drool, dead skin, hair and skin oil, and various bodily fluids. A build-up of this dirt can make its way through your bed linen and onto your mattress, resulting in bad air quality. But luckily cleaning it is not that hard with 4 easy steps:

  1. Strip all the bedding from your mattress, and toss it into the washing machine while you work

  2. Vacuum the top of your mattress, the sides, and underneath the bed. Now lift the mattress (get someone to help if it’s difficult), and vacuum between the mattress and the box springs

  3. Spot-clean any stains on the mattress by mixing a paste of baking soda, salt, and water. Rub the stain with the paste, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Wipe away with a damp, clean cloth.

  4. Remake your bed with clean linens and open the window for some minutes

  1. Don't be afraid to use Mattress Protectors and/or Toppers

Protectors are generally inexpensive, simple to maintain, and prolong your mattress’s lifespan. A protective barrier helps with accidents, especially if you have children or pets. On top of that, it helps your mattress with dust mites and dead skin. To wash it is easy, take it off and put them in the washing machine with mild detergent at cold water temperature (look at your topper label for more info). Do it every two to four weeks and change them completely after 2 years.

3. Make Sure your Mattress is properly supported.

The mattress, of course, needs very good support since sleeping on the floor can be really hurting. A very good bed with storage is not even much costly these days. Make sure to use a wood-slatted type of bed: Slatted bases offer great support to the back area as they're able to adapt to various amounts of weight placed upon them. They also offer a good level of ventilation giving even amounts of air circulation to your mattress. Not many people know this, but a storage bed is good for mattress stability. The storage bed frame is, therefore, more beneficial than a bed frame without storage space. For mattress stability, which helps prevent accidents and also makes sleeping a more comfortable experience, you should invest in a bed with storage.

  1. Let your Mattress breathe some air. (Air out process)

We open the windows of your house to air it out or even hang clothes outside to dry. We air out all of these other things, why not the mattress?  After you’ve been sleeping on your mattress for about three months, it’s ideal to let the material breathe again. Try to air out your mattress four times a year or every three months, if you can. If not, do it as often as possible. To do that simply move the mattress to a location that has good airflow. You can also move the mattress outside if you have help. Allow the mattress to sit out for three to four hours if you can, but for at least one hour.

  1. Consider getting a Long-lasting type of Mattress

Hybrid foam mattresses are expected to last longer than innerspring mattresses and can even outlast a hybrid mattress if cared for properly. We would expect an average memory foam mattress to support and comfort you for at least ten yearsbut a high-quality, high-density hybrid mattress can provide you with a fantastic night’s sleep for up to fifteen years. Memory foam is heat sensitive and moulds to the contours of your body, and quickly retorts back to its original shape after you’ve woken up year after year after year. After that consider recycling your mattress. It has up to 90% reusable materials and some facilities can easily take care of them. How? They will break down your mattress into components; springs can then be melted down and remade into new metal products, while synthetic layers such as foam can either be used to make carpet underlay or else can be sent to a plant where the waste can at least be converted into energy.
