When vacuuming, make certain to cover the entire surface and around the sides too.
-
Clean with solvent – In doing so, we do not recommend the use of harsh cleaning products such as bleach as this will result in damaging your foam mattress. Preferably, you can use ½ cup of fabric cleaner or white vinegar diluted in 1 cup of water. Transfer it into a spray bottle and shake well before using. Do not spray an excessive amount because it will allow mould to form if the mattress is too wet.
Alternatively, you can spot clean by dabbing the solution on the spot and allowing it to sit for 30 minutes. Then rub the area in circular motions with a clean damp cloth to eliminate any stains and towel dry, leaving the spot to dry completely.
-
Deodorise – Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress, this can be carried out whilst the mattress is still wet. Open the window and allow air to circulate the room and leave a fan running to let the mattress dry. As an alternative, you can leave the mattress outside to dry if it is sunny, however, refrain from doing so if it is windy as this will blow the baking soda off the mattress.
-
Vacuum again – Make sure the mattress is completely dry before vacuuming it again, getting rid of all the baking soda and putting fresh bedding on.
Is your mattress reversible? If your mattress can be used on both sides then ensure you are completing the above steps on both sides.
