How to improve bunk bed safety

Bunk beds have always been a popular addition to any bedroom and their popularity with children especially has always been very steady. And yet, even though these practical but trendy beds are so common with children, it's not so uncommon to be aware of some of the horror stories surrounding them when safety has not been a priority. Children have a tendency to walk right into danger, to injure themselves and not even be aware of what can be so dangerous. Therefore, it’s up to parents and guardians to be aware of what they can do to make their child’s bedroom a haven of both safety and fun. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have stated that bunk beds are safe as long as robust safety measures are in place. So, we've decided to come to you with this blog in order to highlight what your priorities should be when it comes to the safety of your child's bedroom. We’ll cover what bunk beds are, their potential hazards as well as what you can do to help make your household’s bunk beds a safer and secure place to sleep. So, without further ado, let’s get into it!

Vital bunk bed safety tip number 1: Make sure that slats are less than 7.5 cm apart

Now, bed slats are something that are frequently overlooked when it comes to how safe a bed is -even with non-bunk beds. However, it’s important to ensure that your bed’s ones are not more than 7.5cm apart so that your mattress does not sag and cause anybody any discomfort whilst sleeping or lead to you being poked at night.

Vital bunk bed safety tip number 2: Make sure that there are no sharp edges

Everybody knows that kids love to play and therefore it’s vital that one area where they may love to play (their bunk bed) is safe so that they don’t hurt themselves. This also applies to adults because anybody, of any age can unwittingly hurt themselves on sharp corners if they are not expecting it.
