Will Your Mattress Soften Over Time?

All mattresses get somewhat softer over time under regular usage, often varying from the first 30 - 90 days. This softening is due to the natural compression from your body weight leading to the stretching and softening of your bed over time. This is actually a good thing, once you’ve passed through the hoop of this break-in period you’ll be able to enjoy a consistent comfort from your mattress during its life-span.

Getting the most out of your mattress may take a little time, but here are some brief tips on how to go about optimizing your softening experience:

Before dressing your mattress up in bedding and duvets, set it down atop your bed and just leave it there for a few hours. Letting the mattress breathe grants it a better oxygen flow, which in turn grants a better night's sleep.

To break in your mattress a little quicker, try gently walking around on it, or use your hands and feet to put some pressure on it. This will help loosen up the materials and make it easier for the new mattress to begin conforming to your body.

Most of all, just give your mattress some time. Let it adjust and conform to your body, just remember that it’s worth the time and effort spent as a well-adjusted mattress can serve you for years.
